Court companion

Court companion on your phone

Take LawKona to court on your phone. Pick the matter, type the adjournment date and directions, record audio, and everything lands on the matter back in chambers. If the courtroom has no network, your notes wait on the phone until it does.

The problem it solves

How most chambers do it today

At court, lawyers write the adjournment date and the judge’s directions in a notebook or on the back of the cause list. Back in chambers the notes are retyped — or not — and the principal phones to ask what happened. Many courtrooms have poor network, so tools that need the internet fail exactly when they are needed.

What changes with LawKona

LawKona gives each lawyer a court notebook on the phone, tied to the matter, that works without network. What happened in court reaches the file the same day, where the whole team can read it.

In practice

A morning at the Federal High Court, Lagos. The chamber and people are illustrative; every step is how LawKona works today.

  1. A junior associate covers a matter for her senior. Before leaving, she opens lawkona.com/court on her phone; her matter list is already saved on the phone.

  2. In court the network drops. She picks the matter anyway, types the adjournment date and the directions, and records a short voice summary where the court allows it.

  3. On the way back her phone reconnects, and the notes and recording sync to the matter on their own.

  4. By the time she reaches chambers, her senior has already read the notes under Court & jottings. Nobody needed to call.

How it works

  1. 01

    Open it on your phone

Go to lawkona.com/court, sign in with your usual login, and add it to your home screen. No app store download.

  2. 02

    Pick the matter

Your matter list is kept on the phone, so you can choose the case even when the network is poor.

  3. 03

    Jot and record

Type notes — adjournment dates, directions, who appeared — and record audio with start, stop, and playback.

  4. 04

    No network? Keep going

Notes and recordings wait safely on the phone and sync as soon as you are back online.

  5. 05

    It is on the file

Back in chambers, everything sits on the matter under Court & jottings for the whole team.

Who uses it

  • Litigator

Notes and audio typed once, at court, straight onto the matter.

  • Junior lawyer covering a matter

The matter list on the phone, even without network, and an easy way to report back.

  • Principal or partner

The outcome of every court appearance on the file the same day, without a phone call.

Why it helps your chamber

  • No retyping notes in chambers

The adjournment date, directions, and appearances are typed once, at court, and land on the matter.

  • Works where the network does not

Notes and recordings are kept on the phone and sync on their own when you are back online.

  • The whole team knows the outcome

Everyone on the matter can read the court notes as soon as they sync.
